This is my last purchase of threads: Gutermann silk cord.
This thread is really nice to tat: soft, ultra soft and more resistant than cotton. Unfortunately, the balls contain little thread and the price is a bit high. Too bad, I love it anyway!
But I really wonder about the use of this thread for jewelry. Wearing tatting jewels myself in allowed me to make my own opinion on the subject.
To sum it up, I have long since discarded pearl cotton and Cébélia for jewelry. With tight knots, DMC’s Lace Special offers better weather resistance than the Lizbeth 40. But, of course, I prefer polyester that has never disappointed me before.
So I decided to do the same with the Gutermann silk cord: I will wear it again and again to judge its resistance. I decided to test on simple bracelet pattern, inspired by a Pricilla Tatting Book N ° 2:

Merci Lilas pour ton partage. Ce bracelet tout “simple” est bien élégant.
Hi Lilas, how did the testing go with Gutermann silk cords for bracelets ? Which thread will you recommend for bracelets with resistance but silky shine?
Hi Yvonne,
I was really disappointed. Then, I tried the Soie Perlée Au Ver a Soie. And I find it much better, but in general there are patterns that behave badly with silk.
