Sumi Fujishige’s flower and Icelandic knit
I’m sick for several days, and I’m struggling to regain health. I take my shuttle just now with this lovely Sumi Fujishige’s flower. But above all, I spent the last few days in bed knitting.
I was lucky to go on holiday in Iceland. I discovered the richness of the Icelandic textile heritage as well as the work of ‘Hélène Magnùson.I promised (long!) To knit one of her patterns for my dear husband.
This is this one.
So it was an opportunity to get started. The sleeves are finished and I started the body yesterday.
I would like to finish it before trying a challenge more motivating in my eyes: a lace shawl of the same author. This is this one:
Unlike many patterns, this one really evokes lace for me. It does not boil down to holes in a knit, it really aerial. At first I understand the pattern, but I have never done that. Nothing says that I get there.
There will soon be near me the festival le fil de la manche. Perhaps I will find the right thread for this shawl?
