Tatting tutorial for the mock ring

Tatting tutorial for the mock ring

This week, I continue with the tatting tutorials. These days, Carine has worries about mock ring. I hope that this “tatting tutorial” will help her even if she practices with the needle and me with the shuttles.
It is called mock ring as it is to a chain which will then be closed in a ring.

The general principle of “mock ring”

During the formation of the loop, you must withhold part of the thread runs between your fingers.

To close the ring, just drag the shuttle through the loop and pull.

When to use a “mock ring?

To create a ring above the first ring

It is not uncommon to find a mock ring in patterns that have this kind of pattern. It will be called “Self Closing Mock Ring” (SCMR for short).

To place a pearl

This is my favorite method to place a bead in a ring!

During the formation of the loop, you must withhold part of the thread runs between your fingers. When you reach half of the future ring, pass the bead on the retaining loop between your fingers.

Then move the shuttle in the loop. Place a pin at the base of the ring and pull the shuttle.

You get this:

  • You can then make the other part of the chain. It will be easy to close the “mock ringwith the pin at the base of the pearl.
